been looking at some amplifiers and just wanted to know what does signal to noise ratio meen?

Signal-to-noise ratio (often abbreviated SNR or S/N) is an electrical engineering concept defined as the ratio of a given transmitted signal to the background noise of the transmission medium. It is also known as D/U ratio, which stands for desired to undesired signal ratio.

Basically means how loud the noice/interference is compared to the sound you do want to hear! :)

Yep, anything with a ratio of over 100db is good.

Also look out for 'slew rate'. This tells you how good the amp is at reproducing the input signal. The higher, the better.
