Hi,

I would like to order a unit this week to split the singal between my tops and bass. I would also like to order an EQ. Question is, should I order 2 separte units (which cost more and take up more space) or 1 unit to do both jobs?

I have been looking at the following:

Behringer Crossovers;
http://www.behringer.com/CX2310/index.cfm?lang=ENG
http://www.behringer.com/CX3400/index.cfm?lang=ENG

Behringer EQ with Crossover:
http://www.behringer.com/FBQ6200/index.cfm?lang=ENG
http://www.behringer.com/FBQ3102/index.cfm?lang=ENG
http://www.behringer.com/FBQ1502/index.cfm?lang=ENG

Please can you tell me what the difference would be in going for the EQ with X-over or just Crossover units?

Thanks

Jay

the behringer eq's work like this:

left & right channels from the mixer go into the inputs of the eq, the eq has a full range left & right output and a mono sub bass output. The sub bass has an adjustable frequency cut off (only lets bass frequencies through) but the left and right are full range outputs (lets the full signal through including the bass part) so your tops will be getting the full signal. if you are happy with this situation the FB1502 works great - will enhance your bass very well and the eq will brighten up the overall sound.

If you want to send your tops a mid/top signal only then you will need the cx2310 - great bit of kit for the price, 24db l/r filters - superb sound, don't be put off by the cheap price.
the cx3400 is only any good to you if you want to run your system 3 way (bass+mid+top)

hope this helps

Tony,

Thanks for your post. The Behringer 2310 looks good. My main concern is that it has 1 Sub XLR output connector at the back. I assume this will go to 1 of my Inputs on my amp. Then I would have 1 of the amps outputs going to a sub. I have 2 subs so I guess the 2nd one plugs into the first one. There lies my issue. I have 2 4 ohm subs and do not want to run them both in 1 channel at 2 ohms. I'd like to have a crossover that can cope with my subs on seperate channels which allows me to run them at 4 ohms.

Bridge the inputs on the amp. I think the ep2500 has a dip setting that makes it just take the one input signal and copy it to the other channel of the amp.

Known as Parallel mode.

Make sure you don't confuse Parallel with Bridge.

So if I rconnect the Sub our from a crossover into Input 1 on my amp, then make both outputs parallel, will the speakers still run as they are rated (4 ohms each)?
