I am looking at buying a pair of these, but I have come across 3 makes...

QTX
Equinox
ProLed

Does anyone have experience of these and/ or the brands, especially the noise of the fans.

They all look pretty much the same to me, so I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they are all the same machine re-badged.

Many thanks in advance.

I have a pair of the QTX rgb version... Oval in shape with a 1.5m silks. Brilliant effects, not used all the time, kids party's, stage fillers, or optional extras! The fans are noisy, but not that loud. Beside the speakers at low volume background music covers the sound.

Davy, can I ask, can the DMX units be set to just one colour - as in orange / blue without a DMX controller or are they constantly changing to the beat of the music?!

Indeed you can do that Matt, using the knobs on the master unit to adjust the colour change speed. Basically you turn the knob to the slowest speed, which is static and then just nudge it slightly to allow a colour change and then quickly back to static, repeat this until you have hit the static colour you wish to use. I think I have made it sound far more complicated than it actually is :)

Hi Matt

It looks like Davy hasn't been on the forum for a few months but Nathan is on the ball for you! :)

They are very loud compared to older better halogen ones.

Not great in low noise applications at all - such as conferences, background music, promos.

When the music starts they are fine however.
