It's spam bots reading your source code on your website...

Usually happens when the actions coding to send it to your email address is all contained on the same page of your site (hidden from the eye but not the bots).....

2 ways to solve this (well many but i'll type 2 for now) either...

add in more scripting so users have to type in a set of numbers/letters displayed in an image before they can send the enquiry.

OR

use a script that has the send to email details in a seperate coded page as it should cut down if not stop the bots from reading and abusing it. - Seems to work with my contact forms..

Word of warning... never click links in spam email!

All it does is confirm that your email address exists and someone is reading messages sent to it, and so they send you even more!

thank god im not on my own paul have you looked into anything to stop it? looking for something relatively easy as my site is all my own work and im by no means a computer whizz . have been experimenting with html codes recently hence the scrolly bits and bobs. but this thing has just started since yesterday ... ive had 3 more since my original post.

I dealt with a DJ agency recently that has a program which returns all emails to source and forces you to input code letters and numbers manually to check its not spam.

Effective--but offputting for genuine clients:eek:

I am receiving massive amounts of spam now---delete-delete-delete
