Ross, is your amp 200 watts per channel or 200 watts total output? Also, are your speakers 100 watts RMS?

Depends on the spec of your amp as previously mentioned, might be possible but hard to tell without knowing what the amplifier is.

Your amplifier is only rated at 8 ohm so you can only use two 8 ohm speakers with your amp. You'll need a 4 ohm amp to run four 8 ohm speakers

50w rms, suprised it powers your 100w speakers. i,d upgrade your amp if you have some spare cash, then go for some bigger speakers later.

Yep.. 50w a side would just about be loud enough for a party in a toilet cubicle.

Who said George Michael?? :D

Yes but P.A and home stereo power ratings are very different, bet you won't find any home stereo with 97db effeciancy.
My dad used to run a disco in the 60's using 4 50watt speakers run from a pa amp. Used to have audiences of up to 300 -400 + . So i think the power vs application argument has started again lol

If your looking for a not bad setup for the money im getting rid of my spare amp and a pair of 300 watt speakers. Im looking for £200 the lot including brand new cables (amp has just been pat tested 2). P.M me for more details. Suitable for up to 200 people in a medium venue (used them in this type of event before so know 5they can do it ok.)

Surely this is a matter of opinion? Personally, i wouldn't dream of doing 200 people with just a pair of tops. You just won't get a decent bassline. And i'm sure you'll find plenty of guests that think along the same lines.

Never had a complaint with a 2 speaker system for nearly 19 years, remember when the drivers are on poles at ear level the bass is heard and felt.
But I surpose it depends what quaility you use , type of audience, music type etc. But as I said this is an old argument and i doubt it will be one or lost here today lol. Worth looking at previous threads on this subject as there were some good comments for and against this type of system. Sound reinforcement, speaker hight , driver effieciency you name it had it said before. Mind you its is a fair comment if you play marque's, i always took some extra power for the outside venue's but inside 2 speakers is more than sufficient for medium size venue's.

Thats my opinion anyway, I know people have different ones, and hey this wouldnt be a forum if everyone agreed would it.

i would say dependant on the venue in derby we have one venue licenced for 250 people and if you took subs the windows would blow out !!! 250 if 30 stand on the bar and all the guests are pigmys.

yet we have another licenced for 160 people thats totally huge and one of the main reasons i bought bass units high ceiling and looooooong room really needs that extra push from subs.
