Any preferences? Pros or cons of either?

Will be using Virtual DJ if that makes any difference

My, April's late this year. 2500s gone South?

Each has strengths and weaknesses. Mic channels on MK1 were a joke. Some folk aren't too happy with some aspects ( I forget which ) of the Mk2.

If I had to chose, Mk2, although I've never owned either, and have no desire to.

I love my mk1 (I have 2) more features than the mk2,
Some good deals around

Have to agree about the Mic input though, It is very hot and needs a db reducer (which are not expensive)

OK. Supplementary question, do you need four channels? I know you haven't asked for recommendations of other brands, but there are many I would recommend before Denon.

Mk2 looks better IMO. (I have both).

Mic channel on mk1 has been mentioned is dreadful.

Always!

Not at the moment, although I may be open to suggestions.

A gentleman after my own heart. Good lad, you know it makes sense. My favourite suggestion, is a two channel one, but the channels have a selector switch, so technically four channels, but only two faders.
If you'd be happy with two plus one ( the one having a gain control at the back, if I remember aright ) then the MC2000 is an attractively priced contender. Only one mic channel, and a poor one at that, though.

Fair enough. Quite a few forum members are very happy with my weapon of choice.

Mic channels on MK1 were a joke.

I've not had an issue myself it may be down the the mic though?

I have a Shure SM48 on channel 1 and I normally turn it to 11 o'clock for small venue and 1 o'clock for larger - 2 o'clock for the big ones.
Channel 2 occasionally hosts a Sennheiser ew100 and that is trickier and prefers to be set at 9 o'clock - 10 o'clock
I originally thought the ducking feature was a great one but I never use it nowadays!

I'm personally not as keen on the layout of the mk2 as it favours Serato over Traktor.

I've been an on/off fan of Denon playout since the 2000f mk1 so I'm always on the lookout for their gear. The new mc4000 looks like a good step up from my mc2000 but it isn't much cheaper than the 6000 so probably isn't even worth considering.

What I really want though, if I'm to upgrade my controller is four lots of deck buttons, not just four faders. Is there anything like that with audio interface and a decent mic channel or two?

Hang on Biggles, I'll just get the Gloucester Old Spots fuelled up.

Had Denon been at bpm I'd have suggested it to their rep. There's got to be demand for it in the mobile market. To many units focus on the bedroom DJ area. Boo

Yup. It's called a mixer with 4 CD players attached to it. :p

Here you go, Justin. (https://www.djkit.com/pioneer-dj/pioneer-cdj2000-nexus-plx-1000-djm900-nexus-package.html?cat=202)

That'll do exactly what you need. Better get two though - one for backup, and all that jazz.
