I know you guys are mostly aware of the different makes of audio but has anyone here ever used a make called 'Meyer Sound'? I have heard they are mostly used in specialist applications, but i know they can be used nearly everywhere. The man who is in charge of sound in my colledges theatre (where i am at a course at) really likes 'Meyer Sound' and he says they are the best. Could someone back him up on this if it is true please, and does anyone reccomend me hearing some because i have not yet been to an event where they have used that make. :)

had a look at their website and their gear does seem aimed at the theatre market rather than mobile and their compact sub looks huge lol.

Meyer is one of the top speaker companies for the pro industry, up there with the best.

Gone off Disco Smash now have we? :D

Lol, But I think someone who says "They're the best" really can't be serious. The best sound engineers in the world will all tell you a completely different audio manufacturer is their favourite. I mean as far as Meyer, Nexo, MA etc. go, they're all awesome :D:D:D

Give me a nice 'Community' rig for outdoor PA use any day - see - I prefer something else too - Bose for indoor speech use, etc, Peavey for good PA....not that I can afford or justify at present.

Lol already there, i like the peavey stuff got myself a couple of messanger 15" 175rms x 350program x 700 peak. sound great but starting to think I might need a bigger amp to drive em.

Fill a room nicely though.

Subs, who needs em. (people who run mobile disco techs, stage sound, huge halls with 250 people plus need not respond lol)

One of my associates uses Class D, says they're top notch

I use Peavey, and the sound is excellent. Had a rare request for a Smiths track the other week, put 'How Soon Is Now' on, and wow!

'Majestic' is one word which springs to mind :)

Meyer - Very good pro audio gear.
Class D - The name says it all!! Sould be a 'Z' instead of a 'D' mind you!!

I wonder what John Meyer would think if he came across this site, and found his products being compared to P*?!*y.

Show some respect, please!

Are you judging merely by the name, Steve 'B'? :D
Or have you heard them in action?

I have the peavey pro15s, they certainly pack a punch on their own, and sound great! Soon going to get some prosubs to go with them to take the pressure off them a bit. Gonna be great! :D

Yup, as everyone has been saying Peavey are pretty sweet :). I reccommended a set of 2 Messenger Pros and a matching Peavey amp to a band. We gigged a week later, at an outdoor gig with them, I managed to mic up everything drums/guitars and DIed the bass amp, and yet I still had headroom despite being outside....Excellent.

Regarding the Class D stuff, haven't heard a bad "note" out of our system yet. Now we're running 2x tops with peizos 2x tops with horns and 2 subs.

Here are the pics of my dust bins. Yes sitting there is a Class 'D' speaker that blew during a kids party, and it was not even loud. I use the other one in my studio as a sort of tea table. Fits really well in the gap. One good use for it I suppose!! As I said, a pile of crap.

I don't really see how you can judge a whole range of speakers on one incident?

Exactly! You also say it wasn't loud, well you must have been doing something wrong then! Speakers don't just blow.

Tried and tested the new setup tonight....sweeet (no blowing of speakers), pounding bass and not so pounding highs, lovely.

I'd agree with that, from my experience speakers tend to blow due to human error. Sending a distorted signal is nearly always the cause.

Well perhaps just a bad unit. I paid next to nothing for them, so I call it a learning curve. I took the units apart to see if it was worth fixing and to be honest, I would not touch them again after the state of the components (tweeters and drivers).

I can understand that - one bad experience of a brand, particularly if it's your first experience of that brand, is enough to put you off essentially for life! :(
