As you all know, this site has grown and grown in recent months and is now one of the busiest, if not THE busiest DJ forum in the UK, with more than 260 registered members visiting the forum in the last month alone (and this doesn’t include the many hundreds of guests visiting and that December is a quiet month for the forum!). We now have more regular contributors than ever before, and this is growing on more or less a daily basis! In fact we have almost doubled in size in the last 6 months!!!!!

As you also know, due to its popularity we have recently had to move to a dedicated server and update the forum, as the old server and forum could not cope with the demand! We also want to make a lot of improvements / additions to the site which will mean almost a complete rebuild of the site, but will hopefully add plenty more features that will be of interest and assistance to all of you….. but this is going to cost a lot of money to set up.

I know that a lot of you have found this site extremely helpful from time to time – not to mention had some fun along the way! So, we have decided to ask if any of you would be prepared to contribute towards the cost of all of this in order to help the site to continue to develop and remain the great resource for DJs that it has become. The way you can do this is by joining the ‘MDD Supporters Club’ at a cost of £1 per month payable automatically through PayPal…. Which hopefully no-one will find too taxing on their budget! This is a VOLUNTARY scheme open to any registered member – if you don’t sign up, you will still be able to enjoy the forum as you do now, but as a ‘Thank-you’ to those of you who do, you will have access to an additional private forum which will only be open and viewable by MDD Supporters, plus your PM allowance will be increased to 200 rather than the current allowance of 50.

Also, MDD Supporters qualify for discounts on upgraded listings in the MDD Directory (http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/showthread.php?22156-PRICES-Mobile-Disco-Directory-Listings).

Currently, all the benefits for MDD Supporters are as follows: -

Access to "MDD Supporters Area" forum
Private Messages quota increased from 50 to 200 messages
Removal of all banner ads throughout the directory and forum
Relaxation of 100 post / 3 months membership requirement for selling items
Allowed avatar size increased from 80x80px to 150x150px
Allowed signature pic size increased from 500x60px to 500x120px
Discounts on "Enhanced" and "Premium" listing upgrades in MDD Directory
1 free additional postcode area for you at www.needadisco.com for as long as you are an MDD Supporter

We would like to stress that this is NOT a way of lining our own pockets, just a way of raising a bit of money which will go towards the costs involved in re-doing the site and maintaining it, as these costs are now rising beyond the level that we can contribute easily out of our own pockets.

To become an MDD supporter:-

Go to the subscriptions page of your profile (here (http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/payments.php))
In the "MDD Supporter" section, click on the arrow next to the ‘Cost’ box and choose the only option there (1 Month - £1.00)* and click ‘Order’
Click on the [Order Using Paypal] button on the next screen, and complete the subscription process at PayPal
If you cannot immediately access the "MDD Supporters area (http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?96-MDD-Supporters-area)" (listed near the bottom of the forum main page (http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forum.php#forum96)), please contact site admin, so that we can look in to it and re-set your permissions manually.

*please note that this is a rolling subscription and that once you have set this up, £1.00 will be taken every month from your Paypal account, unless you cancel your subscription.

Once you have done this, follow the on-screen instructions to set up fully.

Thanks in advance to anyone who signs up – we hope that quite a few of you will feel that this site is worth supporting!

NB PayPal is very much our preferred method, as the forum system is set up to sort the permissions automatically, but if there are any members who would like to sign up who REALLY don't want to use PayPal, contact a site admin to get details and you can send us a cheque for an annual subscription of £12 and the admin can then be done manually. Thanks!

Hi Guys

Can't I just send you £12, ie subscriptions to last a year.

I don't have Paypal and would simply prefer a one-off payment

UG! We were dreading anyone asking that.... trust you Mossy!

The problem with that is that we will have to have yet another administration list with dates subscriptions paid and the date they expire, etc ........ leave it with me and I'll have words to see if something can be sorted on that one.

Sorry I just assumed that a one-off payment of £12 would be EASIER to administrate and it would get you the funds faster to do the development.

I will pop down to the city centre tonight and catch a pigeon with a view to training he or she (I never know how to tell with a pigeon), up to fly down to you once a month with a £1 coin strapped to his or her leg

Ha ha would love to, but we don't have £1 notes in England, funnily enough though the last time I was given a Scottish £1 note and paid for something down here with it they tried to give me change for a £5 (because that's our lowest note)

The pigeon idea is shaping up well, I have found my balaclava and some false registration plates for my car, now all I need is a blow up pigeon for bait

Just to update this thread... the benefits of now being an MDD Supporter include:-

Use of a private forum where you can discuss things that you may not want appearing on a public forum

Increased Private Message capacity (200 instead of 50)

Optional free entry into a periodic lottery to have a new logo designed for you, or your old one re-vamped free of charge by Shaun Frame (EliteDJ) - see here (http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=5536&highlight=logo) for further details

Banner free browsing of the forum

Larger profile avatars

Larger signature images

Relaxation of selling rules

Discounts on "Enhanced" and "Premium" listing upgrades in MDD Directory

..... all for £1 a month, which goes towards the costs of keeping this Site running and the costs that will be involved in the upgrade of the Site and the new features that we hope to add in the future..... BARGAIN! :p :D

Anyone wanting to sign up to become an MDD Supporter can do so by PayPal through their User CP (see the first post in this thread for detailed instructions) or (although PayPal is very much our preferred method as the forum system is set up to sort the permissions automatically) you can contact Shaun or Marc to get a postal address to send us cheque for an annual subscription of £12.

Once again, a HUGE big "Thanks!" to all those who have already subscribed.

I wouldn't go that far. The forum is and always will be a free resourse for the DJ community. Whilst every penny that comes in from supporters goes right back into the site, it's hardly fair to label people rude if they choose not to support the forum. :)

Yeah I agree. We all use this forum a lot and I think those who don't give a pound a month are a tad rude!

There are other forums out there as we all know, I do admire the layout and easy navigation of this site though.

Certain Members appear more frequently than others, and some make a rare appearence, or are totally silent.

Some Members have a Sponsored Listing, Banners etc, and could be paying (for example £50 per year) anyway.

But Yes, it it nice to support by paying £1.00 per month
and be able to choose your own personal description :D

If I remember correctly it was a LOT more than £30 a year, over quadruple that. That's irrelevant Max, it costs a lot of time/money/effort......

I think you are getting years confused with months!

For what reason

I put an amount per a year and you then changed it, THEN told me that it was a lot more.

Of course it's a lot more if you change my own speech! :attn:

Several reasons really.

One of which is that I have to sort my Paypal out, But I shall probably be supporting the forum in the near future.

Yes, Darren has a dedicated server.

I have read before that some of my posts are being deleted to save room on it. (not sure what size it is)

But, basic hosting with UK Companies cost about £3.99 per month.

Servers can cost £30 per month, depending on what you get.

OK, in the last forum we had problems with the forum software linking to Paypal and the forum actually showed over 100 supporters where as a manual check on Paypal tells me that there are just over 40 monthly supporters, so lots of people have been getting a free ride so to speak.

I am about to change the status of all the supporters who have cancelled or not paid for ages.

If you thought you were paying and your supporter status has been taken away, please PM me with details of your last Paypal payment and I can check and re-instate if necessary.

If you don't check your account on a regular basis and didn't realise the money wasn't coming out, perhaps you would like to re-sign as a supporter.

Many thanks.

I can't seem to access the supporters area. Could someone from admin please have a look.

Thanks very much.

That's because Paypal is saying you don't have a current subscription.

Check with Paypal please and I can change you back if you're still there.

Maybe, you should have told me that before

And also that your reference was Mr Jingles and not MikeW!

All sorted now though.

My previous user name was Mr Jingles! But it was changed approx a year and a half ago! This problem has happened before! I contacted Angela last December re this. She sorted it out then. I thought that was the problem solved but obviously not.

The main thing is that it is sorted now!

She didn't sort it out as we can't change your reference number on your Paypal - that is what the problem was.

Just having a look through Paypal and the following supporters have let their supporters subscriptions lapse. We do appreciate the support and I am only mentioning this as some people don't realise that they have lapsed. If you do know, then we thank you for your support in the past and respect your decision not to continue.

Remember though, if you do want to support the site and keep it going, it's only £1 a month and much appreciated.

For their information, the following people have recently lapsed.

Charlie Brown
djdj
DJpapastu
Gary (GDK)
Hammy
Jem
Jonathan Ford
Mark J
MarkW
Sapphire Disco
Soundsation
WWDJ

Many thanks to those who have supported us in the past and continue to support us. :beer1:

How does the subscription work through paypal?

Is it on a time limit and after a year or so it ends? My £1 goes out once a month but can't remember how long ago it was set up, or does it need to be renewed ever so often? :)

The monthly payment option is a rolling subscription, meaning the £1 payment each month will be processed automatically until cancelled via the options in PayPal - so no need to remember about renewal

The yearly subscription has to be manually paid by the user at the end of the 12 month period.

Hope this helps. :beer1:

Sometimes Paypal cancels for no reason though - we've had this quite a few times and it seems to be totally random, hence my post earlier.

Wasn't there a supporter's forum? My access to that doesn't seem to have been renewed (if it still exists)....

That's 'cos I have to change you back manually and I haven't done it yet...:)

I'll do it now.

Right - I've paid my dues....start deleting the posts about me :)

I can't see anything new yet though :( (admins...if it's a manual process then the payment will have come through from an email address of waynes-world.co.uk)

It is a manual process that I should sort as the payments come through to me, though I noticed someone had changed your status without knowing about the payment...:zip:

Thanks for your support.
