Following from this thread (http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=75390#post75390) What are your top tracks of the genre? (please only list tracks that are proven to actually work in a mobile disco situation & not just because they are of a certain genre. Also must be suitable for all ages)

It doesn't matter if you post a track that somebody else has, the idea is to find good useable tracks of the genre that are proven to work for mobile DJs

Please Stick to the specific genre in the thread title

Any or all of these at Xmas or Wedding will (a) fill the floor and (b) get you a spotty youth asking for R 'n B, fairly quickly...

B 52's - Love Shack
Nolans - I'm In The Mood For Dancing
Abba - Dancing Queen
Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
Billy Joel - Uptown Girl
Human League - Don't You Want Me
Cher - Shoop Shoop Song
Bryan Adams - Summer of '69
Grease Megamix
Los Del Rio - Macarena
Mavericks - Dance The Night Away
Whigfield - Saturday Night
DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide
Kelly Marie - Feels Like I'm In Love
Village People - YMCA...

...and Cheesney Hawkes - I Am The One And Only

At Xmas time, the police are particularly vigilant - DJ's stopped on the way home from an Xmas party can expect to be able to prove that they have played at least 80% of the tracks that will pop up in this thread...

Hard to believe but a lot of people ask for "The Hoff"

I did a wedding at a rather prestigious venue last year and the bride and groom wanted "Jump In My Car" for the song after the first dance!

My cheese list has to be:

I'm In The Mood For Dancing - The Nolans
Wig Wam Bam - Damien
The Time Warp - Damien
The Grease Megamix - Cast of Grease
Y.M.C.A. / In The Navy - Village People
Hey Baby - DJ Otzi
I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred
(Is This The Way To) Amarillo - Tony Christie
Sex On The Beach - T Spoon
Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners

Also anything by Cliff (ie. Congratulations) and also anything by Black Lace (Gangbang, etc)

Might all be cheese but everyone gets people on their feet and it's these songs that have made me what I am today - the King of Cheese!

I agree...and the same goes for Beat it & Love really hurts without you.

They don't have a special dance, so in my book that means they're not cheese!

summer of 69 is always played at a cheese night here in cheltenham and always gets a good reaction.

Depends how you want to define cheese really. I just put down the tracks that i play at most of my gigs because they are songs that most people know and get up to dance too.

Ive just noticed i put beat it rather than bille jean!

Correct.

But I would call these classic's not cheese.......i would never play them with the likes of Macawotzit...or the likes.

I play the Billy Ocean track often .....always goes down well.

Agreed. I'd define it as the tracks you're inclined to play at almost every gig, which tend to work with most age groups. If you like, you might call them "Anthems" rather than "Cheese".

Sometimes it's more what the punters define as cheese. I had a wedding reception a few weeks ago and she specified that she didn't want anything too cheesy but maybe 'Summer of 69' and 'The One And Only' would be ok. Clearly she defined these as cheese.

However, on the night whilt entertaining the children, she was at the bar boogying along with her friends to......

All the Black Lace songs
Now that IS cheese :D
