Ok I have seen alot of your lighting set-ups and I am jealous. They look so good. How and what are you all using for them. DMX light board? PC based lighting control?

Just the manufacturers DMX controller for mine. All my lighting is made by EVL, so i just use a 4 button controller to control them.. although you can't be that creative this way, so gonna move across to PC based DMX soon.

I use mainly DMX effects, but just have them on master-slave configuration.
Most of the internal programmes are good enough for the kind of function I do.

Will - catch up with all the threads first.... there is a picture on here :D
PS - Hightower...... I know that 'Europe' is everything over this side of the Atlantic Ocean to you, and the UK is technically part of Europe, but to us 'Europe' denotes the land mass the other side of the Channel - ie mainland Europe :D

Out of 30 or so different lights effects. Only 5 of them are DMX. I also posted about the DMX adapters in this forum. I am considering getting the adapters and a DMX board to run a light show. Currently I am using a Chauvet sf9005 timer/controller. I use Chauvets SF-4005 2/4 Channel Timer controller for my parcans. How is the bulb life when using DMX controllers. I mean they are off and on so fast does it where them out faster?

The bulb life won't change if you simply connect them up to a DMX switch pack and a DMX controller.
If possible always put generic lights (Like par cans - that can be dimmed) on a DMX dimmer instead of a switch pack.

I was looking at Behringers light board and two chauvet light boards. Any opinions on either of these boards?

It depends what you want to do with it to be honest Chris. I've never used any of those consoles before, however I have used (and do use) the Chauvet DMX-50 at smaller discos (seems to be the model down from the DMX-55 model you show).
If you have DMX fixtures (i.e. scanners etc that have more than one channel, the behringer style desk is not for you). However if all you've got is dimmers and switchpacks it may be that the Behringer desk (which is designed for controlling dimmers) is ideal.

That is good to know, especially for us DMX newbs. After talking to Chauvet this mourning I am leaning towards the Chauvet DMX 55. It costs $199.99 and seems to be what I am wanting. I dont have any scanners yet but I do have several DMX lights with 4 or 5 channels.

Then I would go with that Chis :)
Edit: I also can't vouch for the quality of a Behringer Light unit, however I have used a Chauvet desk :)
