OK, following my 2nd hand trilite 200 truss thread (and purchase in the next few days), I need a set of new winch stands to go with them!

Been looking at the ones available from Thomann. Any thoughts on one of the following:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/eurolite_stw_200a_kurbelstativ.htm

http://www.thomann.de/gb/km_246-1.htm

Or would my £200 (ish) be better spent elsewhere?

personally i would stay away from the Starville stands as they are the same brand as prolight and tend not to be so good.

If you want good quality stands then look for some powerdrive or manfrotto stands they will last a lot longer and also tend to be much stronger for holding weight. you really want something that can handle 35-50Kg each.

Unfortunately while I would love Powerdrive etc..., I just haven't got the budget for that. I know the links I gave are generally to unheard of makes, but are any suitable?

Get the best stands you can afford. No point in cutting corners think what the stand is holding up you cannot put a price on safe have a look at spTEK3000 from Mobiltech or get more lengths of truss and make a goalpost system

Those last ones you've linked to look pretty substantial, if i was buying again i'd probably go for those.

I bought these ones before christmas, and they're pretty sturdy - http://www.thomann.de/gb/millenium_ls2800_lichtpastativ.htm

So would something like this be a better buy?

I have a pair of the Millenium 2700s I don't use them that often as I normally just use my deckstand, but when I have used them I have never had a problem. I had a pair of the Mobiltech wind up stands and I much prefered the Thomann ones, did not like the cable drive of the Mobiltech, I prefer the direct geared drive of the Millenium 2700s.

As for their longevity only time will tell.

Those terallec ones look ok, but the thomann ones are probably just as good. The thing about the terallec ones, is if you buy one of their pacakages, you end up with truss and adaptors for an extra £40 or something silly, over the price of the stands!

So which of the Thomann ones would be best do you think?

Most seem to only take 30 - 35Kg, with the truss and two stands, that's about 60 - 70Kg total load. Somehow doesn't seem enough!

surely something that only holds 30kg is designed as a speaker stand?

with the load it takes would you also have to consider the lighting you put on the truss ?? just wondered.

See my post above. The ones you linked to take 50kg each, and my ones are 55kg.
