    Default Protection

    Gentlemen:

Further to my thread a couple of days ago asking what broadband you would recommend, i have got another for you if you would be so kind to offer your ideas please.

I know it is almost impossible to block all spyware/viruses etc etc but what have you found/use that seems better than most?

maybe a difficult question guys but lets get some idease going.

Avast! Anti virus, Windoz Defender and firewall plus the firewall in my router. Never had any problems with this combo.

    Strangley, Norton.
It used to be great, then went utter rubbish, but they seem to have got it together at last

TBH the best form of protection is just to watch what you are doing!!

I've had PC's with NO protection survive quite well.
However there are so many cunning ways that the 's can get you these days, you really cannot be too careful.

Wouldn't touch Norton/ Symantec with 100 foot barge pole! Uses too much resources for nothing! I wasted over £40 getting it then it didn't find anything then installed AVG if found a few nastys!

My whole household have been with Eset Nod 32 for years and never had any problems at all! Highly recommended!!!

I also run Spybot search and destroy every now and then and have Zonealarm firewall on and running as an extra backup to.

What I found with avg and other free programs is that it found files that were bad, I deleted them, then the pc was missing boot files.

    Only branded stuff for me.
