No worries Peter. I think it was a mutually beneficial evening and it was certainly an unexpected bonus to be all packed up and leaving the carpark by 11.30.

I know the technical glitch wasn't that great for your blood pressure but it was pretty useful from my perspective because it gave me some useful insight into how to deal with a mid-set equipment malfunction. I could have done with that knowledge for my tricky gig last week! (gig report to follow shortly)

I've been having a bit of a laugh thinking about the comment from the young girl on the dancefloor. She sidled over towards the end of the evening and as I bent down to listen to her song request she said "I really, really like you". "Ermm.... thank you" I replied. "That's very flattering" I think I said (or words to that effect) because her declaration caught me by surprise. I was still cogitating over what the correct response to an 11 year old girl should have been when her friend walked over and said " So can we have that 'I really like you' song by Carly Rae Jepson then?" Guess who felt like a prize pillock at this point!

Its an easy get in at this club through a fire exit which runs right in front of the stage - I pull the door open to..... candy cart in the way. That'll be moving then health and safety of course (not).

Just finished brining in the last of the kit and some dude walks in - as I turn around to ask what he's doing I was roared at "im on the committee here and this door should be closed" well excuse me for not instantly closing it. I was actually letting in a bit of air while i got set up but hey. So I moved the car as last time I was here I got blocked in by punters who were leaving the cars over night and nearly had to ram my way out.

Committee man comes in again you parked on the path mate, move your car. Really one of these nights.

it was an engagement party for two twenty some-things. 7.30 start with late 9.00 buffet so not much time for a full play list afterwards. All the young ones wanted was dance dance chart dance, all the old ones wanted was old old bay city rollers old. I tried to blend the two but the line of people making requests for the "next song" got annoying quickly and mixing was more a case of cue and go.

Got a 5 star review for the night but it was deffo a frustrating affair.
Ah good (bad) olde jukebox mode. I've had a couple like that, generally the murder misery nights where they can sometimes be impossible to fathom.

The 18th birthday party for one young gentleman with about 60 of his friends was a resounding success. The new web app of mine attracted a sum total of TWO requests. One for Kanye West, one for Scooter. Aren't these people too young to know about Scooter? Blah. Went down rather too well for my liking. I'm still hardcore-o-phobic, see.

Anyway, great gig & everybody stayed til the bitter end, which is still coming as a surprise for a weeknighter.

Some very differnt songs on those lists.

I've had 3 gigs this weekend and they were hit and miss.

Friday was a 40th at a nice little hotel in gateshead the Angel View Inn. Birthday Girl was fine as was her husband but guests were plonkers to put it nice. One kept telling me everyone in the room loved rock (but it killed the dance floor time after time), one group were asking for mental cheese (this was fun and normally got people dancing) and some old trout who kept demanding I play Celine Dion - I drove all night NEXT!! At the end of the night she told me I was a sh1te DJ to which I informed her I know but I got paid.

Had to set up in a strange place in front of the bar so used a back drop on the right truss. Worked well in the end put never "filled" the dance floor so was a little miffed. Did get a lot of positive comments and handshakes at the end however so went home happy enough with the bonus I was booked till 12 but the hotel staff made me stop playing at 11.15 as there music licence is only till then. Flyer - yes please and client was ok with this.

Saturday was a huge Engagement Party. Whiteleas club is a horrible hike like the north face of the Eiger. There were two of us working however and I made Kris carry the heavy stuff. I was there to support and do photos as it was for a friend and she wanted me to party rather than DJ. We worked with a stunning little singer Beth Hopper who did an hour then I covered for 40 mins to ensure the cheese got played. All went down well bar Kris trying to kill his laptop - bass on that high it shook the shelf off his Gorilla Stand - amateur.

Sunday was a joint birthday party and christening which was both funny and annoying. Kids were all over the place and I thought they were gonna wear a light rig but didn't, miserable parents hardly spent any time in the room and some proppa chav guests. Games went down well, did a talent show, limbo and a few others. The wife was trying to help but actually just dropped my controller and dented it. However I took her to Tynemouth Beach on the way home for icecream and chips.

Now back to work and not had a day off since 5th april

Well according to the plaque on the venue wall, it seems I was in Derbyshire last night. Funny, I could have sworn I was in Yorkshire, but ah well. Killamarsh it was, the sports centre. What sort of function was I doing, I hear you ask?

Well here's a clue, I played Superman, The Birdie Song, Las Ketchup, loads of S Club 7, Gangnam, Macarena, Hokey Cokey, and more in the same vein, to a rapturous reception.

Yes, you guessed correctly, it was an 18th! Don't ask why, they were on the request list, so who was I to argue. Early on, I had to play the obligatory R & Bilge, which also went down very well.
    Fabulous night, 11pm finish, lovely.
