Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting a powered booth speaker.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

I dont know if they are still available but numark used to do a pair of little active speakers just for this and they were quite cheap.
Normally monitors are really useful if your in a room with seriously bad acoustics. Any active speakers will do the job as your not going to be running them anywhere near what you P.A. will be

Do not go cheap as they will be rubbish.
get a small active cab from a known make if i were you (10inch would be ideal). maybe get a set and then use them as back up or for sound in other rooms etc.
I used by Tapcos at the weekend as a hire job and got £100 on top of the gig in another venue. luckily my amp did not blow up as they are my backups.
Have not got them back mind you so hopefully they are still in one piece.

You should say that to some of the DJ's i work with that complain that my standard monitor system ( that delivers 129dbA spl @ 1m continuously) is not loud enough....Any active speakers will do the job as your not going to be running them anywhere near what you P.A. will be
even had one guy apologise to me last year as he thought he had blown them up...but i couldnt hear him properly due to the noise comming from the monitors which supposedly were silent...time for another job me thinks!
But, back to the subject - i think a small pair of say 10" + 1" actives that can also be used as delays / backup speakers is ideal - on a budget i was very impressed by the W audio zenith range i heard a little while ago

quite, but THEY have the volume control on THEIR mixer, and this is what they specify
typical riders ask for 4kw monitor systems including bi-amped mid highs, and subwoofers placed by the feet
got one here at the moment which is asking for 2 Funktion one res2's with 2 F118's for good measure
you dont need to tell me...but it will be my problem when the technics decks approx 3 foot from the subs are suffering from a bit of rumble...
Im sorry, but i really do not see the point. Surely if, its just for mobile work, to make sure your levels are correct, youve got either chanel lights on the mixer, or can do a level check in the headphones....
Ive only ever seen a real need for monitors when your mixing, and theres a delay on the main amp rack...
