    Default Which Phono lead?

    Hi folkes

I nead a new set of phono leads, to go from my cd player/mixer to my Eq.
The lead that i was using has a fault, it must have a slight break on one of the inner cables.
Now the faulty lead is a oxygen free double shielded one, BUT, does it mater if i use a normall thiner ( cheaper ) type, or do you guys think that it is wiser to get another bouble shielded lead.

    thanks in advance.

Double shielded are recomended as they carry a better signal than standard cable. Also unshielded cables have a habit of picking up mobile phone signals as well as other unwanted signals.
In the end its your choice but in my opinion the thin cheaper cables should be avoided for anything but home hi fi.
When the world ends , ill probably have to clean up the mess.

If its a short run, then its not really going to make a lot of difference. The longer the cable is, the more chance there is of picking up interference

I recently upgraded all my cables. Not cheap to do but I can tell the difference. Not sure if customers would notice but gives me more confidence.

Get the most expensive cables you can with gold plugs and make sure they are sheilded and then use them with cheap basic equipment....

I don;t know about other places but if you want to buy leads then have a look at Studiospares. They have been teh cheapest place I have come accross then looking for short custom size lengths.

Have a look at this - Link

These leads use sommer cable. If the lead will just in your box then these will last you a very very long time. If I'm right, Sommer cable is used by professional PA companys so its rather good stuff.
