I've been replacing all the lightbulbs in the house with energy saving bulbs too, and I've not had to change any of them again, and the electricity used for lighting is a fifth/sixth of what it used to be! It's a no-brainer really

So up on the stool today to change it (*insert how many DJs does it take to change a lightbulb joke here*), only to find it wouldn't come out of the fitting.
I eventually managed to remove the bulb from the ceiling (after going into the loft to see if there was anything could be done from that end, only to find that my access to the fitting I wanted to get to barred by a load of joists) to find the actual lamp holder was broken.
I eventually managed to get both the lamp & holder back into place, only to have the other one drop out.
I am not a happy bunny. I've decided not to do anything else today & I'm about to have a beer.
And the moral of this story...
...don't fit "energy saving" light bulbs, as I believe I said about a year ago!

Also they aint anykinder to the enviroment if you were to brake one!

I'm impressed Callum.
I assume you know they contain poisonous Mercury vapour then, and for that reason should not be put into landfill sites, which begs the question:
What do people do with them when the pack up?
