I've had a couple of occasions where the £50 deposit cheque bounced, but in both cases it was replaced with another which went through ok.

Out of interest, what was the actual answer on the unpaid cheque?

Presumably you tried contacting them by telephone. Maybe they are away on holiday?

As the wedding isn't until May next year, I wouldn't start worrying yet. I'm sure you'll make contact & get it sorted out.

A couple of times and very recently too.

In every case for me, it's been a mistake either by the bank or the person sending it not having sufficient cleared funds, not because they've changed their minds and cancelled the cheque.

Plenty of time to get this one sorted - probably just an oversight.

Not recently--I would be a bit worried about somoene whose cheque cant be honoured for such a small amount--as opposed to the larger fee Daz was talking about recently

If its hard to pay £50 now--how hard to pay the balance?

I would say get paid 2 weeks before the event so the cheque clears for the balance no messing--whatever the excuses

Wouldnt worry yet, its probaly just a case of bills getting paid before you handed the cheque in...

I don't think it's too much to worry about at this early stage, Gary.

What we do is give the client two chances to present a good cheque. If it fails twice then they need to pay by cash (never through the post) or postal order. Then they'd need to pay the balance 21 days prior to the event by cheque or postal order. If it bounces again then it's cash/postal order in 7 days or it's a cancelled gig. There's only so many chances you can give someone!

I have had 3 cheques in the few two months totalling about £900.
But all turned out OK in the end after a lot of hassle.
