with £1000 you should be able to get top quality, reliable, proven gear that will suit you in 99% of venues.
take your time and decide carefully. its easier than you think to blow that amount of money on lesser quality speakers.
also consider size/weight when buying as a) youll have to carry them around everywhere, b) due to technology advancement, size and weight is no longer an indication of volume and capacity. dont necessarily think bigger is better. just a thought.
maybe also consider a smaller backup rig should you need it?

Wharfdale system looks tasty
or there's this JBL package, only £719, and no need for a bass unit allegedly:
http://www.djkit.co.uk/package.php?id=PKG-1228-62
no need for a seperate bass unit or is that wishful thinking?
You read correctly. As this unit comes with 2 cones you get twice the bass (in very simple terms, i know this is not technically correct.) but it has been said that as the cones and horns are close together it can become muffled at high volumes so not quite as good as seperate tops and subs.
Also with the size of this stack you defiantly wouldn't put them on tripods. they are floor standing i would say.
I currently use:
2x 15" SF15 http://www2.jblpro.com/catalog/gener...x?PId=87&MId=3
1X 18" 350w JBL powered sub http://www2.jblpro.com/catalog/gener...x?PId=90&MId=3
I can honestly say this is the best system i have ever heard and can produce some serious sound with good quality.

Although I spent £650 with Class-d and ended up with a 1400W system.
Why ever not, I'm still very happy with mine. A great sound for a budget price.
Actually I'd have recommended something like yours, but with 15SP's in the middle. The amp recommended by Groovy is bigger and dearer than I would have suggested. For instance you could put two C-Marks in for the same price, bi-amp them, and get more control.

I know power does not equate to loudness, but it's got six 12/15" drivers, and it's loud enough for Justin.

Many folk even on here don't understand the intricacies of a logarithmic scale of loudness. Added to which, there is a often feeling that some folk do not give an entirely acciurate Db rating on their kit.
