I've got a pair of class D 15" subs for sale for £100 if you are interested
Excellent advice, probably the best way to potentially avoid damage.

Sorry I don't have a Omega sign on my keyboard.
Diamond is almost bang on again. With 8 subs, you'll still be running at 8 if you use the crossovers to connect. This one comes round pretty regularly.

Typing 8R is the same as writing 8

I worked for a disco for 3 years whose amps were only 100WRMS !
We worked pubs, clubs and public halls and had no problems.
It wasnt really loud but people want to be able to talk to each other too.
There are no awards for making people go deaf !

The wattage is immaterial. A C7 top is rated at 200wrms and will do 138db at 1m because it is very very efficient.

Was the C7 invented in 1977 ?
The speakers were home built.
Instead of using 12 inch or 10 inch drivers the boxes had numerous 6 inch drivers in them.

I don't think it's about being so loud that you make people deaf Nigel I think if you are going to drive your set up on the edge all night it won't sound good & may blow up.

In the early 1980's I got away with a Maplin amp DIY kit 225WRMS and four 50WRMS 12 inch Fane speakers and they were very loud. On a couple of occasions I was asked to turn it down a bit and that was at quite big venues.
