Peter, when I bought my last car, I asked "how fast does it go?" which is the equivalent of "how loud does it go, without distortion and maintaining reasonable headroom?"

138mph... great lots of headroom, effortless 70/80.

My other question was, "what's the consumption - (a) if I drive it sensibly... and (b) if I floor it?" "How much petrol will it drink"... being the equivalent of "How much amplifier power to achieve said performance"

    (a) mid 40s
    (b) mid 20s

Why would I want a 4.4Ltr engine when a 2.2Ltr engine gives me that performance and consumes less fuel?

Which is better - a sub that produces a maximum SPL of 138db at 1w/1m with 400w or one that needs 1,600w to produce the same SPL (given all other measures being even)?

But if you know what they mean then there's no need to put it

I do have PSR15a's aswell which is the normal set up, just thinking what to do with the 8's that i've also got. Hence the thread

    Cheers for the feedback ,

Daz, I think I will keep them for PA work. That's what they were originally bought for.

Could always keep them for when the disco is in another room to the bar etc and run them through so there is a bit of atmosphere at a lower level in there??

Thanks Dave, was toying with that idea. Want to do something with them as they've just sat in the loft since I got them

That's something we often do. Helps get them going when you have a 2 room venue!

Just cos you know what questions to ask! No arguments Sir, just a feeling that it will be a long time before you can stop admonishing us for our failings om this.

You need speakers that provide the full hearing frequency spectrum.

I currently use a 4 by 10 inch speakers cab for the upper end and an 18 inch speaker cab for the low end.
