    EDIT
Excaliber. The link that Tom gave is the same as the holder in the scanner. Thanks for the help anyway.
There was 4 lamps but one of them was blown and didnt have another box to pack it so left it in the light.

The 2 boxed lamps are brand new and un used.

The lamp holder is the same, just a different design. . If you have a maplins near you then would be best to go for that one as it saves waiting a while for the post to come.

Had a look today at the light I thought was faulty. I took the cover of it and had a look at where the lamp holder connects to the circuit board and thought "oh thats gonna be awkward". I decided to plug it in and see what happens, and after a while of pressing the menu buttons the light suddenly comes on. Switch off and put it back together again. I try it again and lo and behold, no light. Eventually I discover it is a contact problem. Not sure if it is the pin holes in the holder or wether there needs to be better contact between the bulb and the metal bracket that holds it in place.

Had both of them running, linked together, for over half an hour this evening.
First thing I learned was that only the master unit needs to be in audio mode

Would like a few pointers on the best address settings to use. I discovered that they seem to react best to the music when both units are set to A0001.

I don't know what I did but at one point both mirrors were moving together and the patterns were the same but the colours were different. Can the scanners be set to oppose each other? i.e. when one moves left the other moves right.

Gordon, I'm not familiar with the holder in that model of effect, but usually it's the holder that's faulty. The old enemy heat is the culprit. Is it not possible to cut the wires to the holder, and splice in the new ones, that's normally what I do.

As you say, Excalibur, heat is the problem. I had considered putting tinfoil around the pins of the bulb but then that would be too hazerdous.

The best/only option would be to splice the wires and join the new to the old. Even with the whole enclosure removed it will be an awkward job.

I'll order a couple of those holders anyway and maybe have a go at it when I'm off over christmas.
