I wasn't looking for such a technical solution. I've had bad experiences of similar things many years ago.
Dazzy, seems I'm on a loser with the PC, but the phone's OK. ( As is often the case, most of the software is pre-installed. ) Thanks mate.
Don't start fighting on my account lads. I'm just quietly baffled.
It all to do with what happens when you install a program. They can add files to other folders than there own. They will also write things to the registry as well telling windows how to run it all.

If your hard drive is working fine ect, carnt you just put your hard drive in a newer tower as master and the just install the new drivers.
