    Default PAT & PLI question

I don't no if this is the right area sorry ..

But i have just booked my first gig that involves me showing my certificates

i have my PLI that's no problem

but the PAT is a problem i think

As when I got the gear tested about 9 months ago i have changed a few bits to new stiff

i was told that if the gear is old then 12 months it need PAT testing

if that the case all my old stiff has stickers on and new stuff have no stickers on

so is there anything else i need to show

    thanks

You usually get a certificate when all your gear has been PAT tested.

I issue my own as i do all my own PAT testing.

Just send them the certificate. That should be enough. They wont go through every piece of kit, but make sure all is covered on the night. I sent a very prestigious venue my PLI which ran out a few weeks before the gig and they said nothing.

I obviously got new insurance but was seeing how closely they vetted it. Obviously not much

Get the rest of it tested first.

The 12 months old thing is a load of boll er um twaddle.

Anything can fail a PAT test at any point in it's "lifetime" & the best way to show H&S compliance is to test everything regardless of it's age

I've had effects fail out of the box before now, usually due to a bad internal earth connection (spade connector flapping about in the breeze / earth tag covered in paint etc.) and then there was the big issue with the double-insulated Numark gear not carrying a double-insulated logo...

Don't take any chances. Get new gear PAT'ed before you use it in public.
