    Buy a new hard drive, buy an external cage (on eBay about £6-10) then do a complete transfer of your old hard drive to your new one.

    A boot with a vista disk (created from the options within your Acer menus) and repair and its all done.

    Google 'how to transfer old hard drive to new hard drive under Vista' and you should find step by step instructions.

    I used Acronis TrueImage when I had to transfer all of my stuff over to a new HD.

    It copies absolutely everything including the operating system.
