    Default Shares?

Does anybody on here do any share dealing?

I "dabble" with small amounts, more for fun than anything else, and I'm grinning from ear to ear today because half my money is in this lot: -

    http://www.google.co.uk/finance?q=AFE

Who are up almost 30% today alone (and I bought them at 4.5p a while ago).

If anyone else does this kind of thing....they're said to be hitting 10p+ by Thursday so perhaps still a good buy* at the current price

If you do do this - who do you use and what are the fees like? I didn't look around much as I was recommended Hargreaves Lansdown and so just went with them....

*DISCLAIMER - The value of investments can go down as well as up. I don't really have much of a clue. Don't come crying to me if it all goes down the drain. Don't invest what you can't afford to lose!

Iweb which is part of Halifax is who I use (now Lloyds I guess).

They seem fairly easy to use, and its about £10 a trade

Didn't go quite as high as I was hoping for this week, so I "topped up" while the price was still in single figures. Big things are tipped to happen this week

    Did you buy in?

I've never been keen on shares. They are more for gamblers (which I'm not), because although you have the potential to make big gains, you also have the potential to make big losses.

For example, when I left the bank, I decided to sell all my shares. I got about £16 each. If I'd held onto them, they'd now be worth 37p each.

Hmmmm...I think that's a slight understatement (certainly in MY case).

"The value of shares can go down by 98% overnight" is more accurate.

If that's what floats your boat, then good luck to you!

Yes, that should be "early this week" and if it's as expected there'll have to be a "significant adjustment" in the valuation of the company. If they take a dip below 8.0 this morning I'm gambling my holiday fund on it
