    Default Sorting Mp3's out alphabetically

Hi im hoping this is the correct forum as ive read alot of the others and cant find anything towrds this. im looking on whats best to use to alphabetically sort all albums/songs/tracks if poss into ABC etc lists so i can just go to a certain folder for example: Jaygee id just have to go to J i was thinking about song titles but i think that artist format would be alot better, ive tried a couple of softwares but they seem to say so many files were missed etc or cant be added which is a royal pain in the backside, unless the only answer isto relost them all seperate but ive over 50,000 and i reallly dont fancy going through each one etc, even if its a free trial id be happy as id only need to do it once.

    Thanks again Dave

    Lightbulb MP3 Sorting

    Hi Dave,
Firstly make sure that everything is tagged correctly, WMP Tags from my experience (Artist tags) don't seem to be compatible with Virtual DJ , or ITunes . Only the 'Title' ones are, as they are also the filename.

If your tagging is not correct, or you have experienced any problems with it, then I would reccomend ripping CDs in ITunes , then checking them in a tagging software. I use 'Tag and Rename' which a free trial is available of.

I have thought about this before, being a CD DJ, as certain albums that I know the tracks of from memory. But there is a way around this, If you tag the files with the 'Track Number', then fingers crossed, it will appear in that order within the DJ Software.

I find that most equipment/software that supports Digital Playback will usually have some form of keyboard connected to it. (optional on Hard Drive Controllers) allowing you to type in the name, rather than sorting by letter.

I would probably sort by Album, Genre of music, year, or maybe just leave the tracks loose on the HDD. By entering keywords on the keyboard, the search will be filtered to those letters only, anyway.

If your files are named correctly, then they should all appear (generally speaking) in Alphabetic order anyway. Bearing in mind, I have only really used Virtual DJ. Other softwares may differ.

Max, I've used Twinspin's Cattrax software, and it's excellent for finding tracks on CD's. Sadly it doesn't tell you where the CD's are.

MP3, well there's only one program in my opinion, and that's Media Monkey. It does just about everything you'll ever need to do with them.

sadly there still doesn't appear to be anything that can get rid of duplicate OTS files is there?

    Dave...
MM will show duplicates at the press of a button. How you get rid of them I don't know, but I can't be expected to know everything.

Just open your hdd in ITunes or whatever, type in YMCA and it will bring about 5 copies up, and delete the duplicates.

    I wouldn't imagen they'd be many though
