Default Is there such a thing as a good LED light ?

Ok remove Par cans’ from the equation ..(Up lighting and wash they’re great)
I’m talking about effect lights and scanners.
All the lights I’ve seen are not getting me excited... can anyone point me in the direction of an amazing LED effect light?
The worst I have seen are scanners trying to look like a gobo, look like bad patchwork cushions. No the Derby’s aren’t floating my boat either.
    Happy to be converted.

The american DJ range of effects are the closest I've seen to good LED effects so far, but their claim of their Tri-LED having the same output as a 250w Halogen lamp is stretching the truth a bit:

    Aggressor

    LED Quest

    Sunray

    Tri GEM LED

    Vertigo Tri-LED

    X-Move Plus

    X-Scan LED Plus

Note the "Plus" in the last two items where they promise that they're "Up to 30% brighter than the previous versions". So I guess they're catching on

Thet've got a long way to go yet before they challenge propper effects, flashing dots just don't do it for me either.

Yeah I know what you mean, I'm just setting up a light show for a 18th and one of my scanners blew a bulb, I slapped a cheepo Soundlab bulb, same watt but wow... It's about 30% less brighter than my quality bulbs

Need to stock up on some more quality bulbs... twice the cost but.. man it really shows !

Lesson learned.. use cheapo bulbs for setup

sorry but I think there are good led lights

Acme mircaleds and ADJ Mystics for starters. If you got smoke they look great!

Yes from the djs point of view looking at all those dots does get annoying but for customers they'll in the large part be impressed.

It takes awhile to get your head around but lighting isnt something the customer looks for in a disco but what most djs do.

Well that is a prime example of what I hate about LED's "if you got smoke" yeah 20% of venues, then swing the camara round and waddya ya get ?

Coloured dots... Woop! do any of them even spin the 'gobos' or dot cluster ?
