Default Anyone on here good with router problems ???

    Got this annoying problem,

Couple of weeks ago, I bought a new laptop, HP G70 213, running vista.

Problem is, it never connects properly to my router on the first attempt.

Usually I have connect and disconnect 5 to 10 times until it connects properly.

And also once it has connected properly, theres a good chance it will lose the connection, and i have to do that connecting routine again.

Although, quite often it will stay connected for a few hours.

Now, the reason I use the word "properly", it because it always "connects", and stays connected, Its just that it wont access any websites even though it says "connected, local and internet" if you see what i mean.

Put another way, when it says "connected", I have to try to open a webpage to see if it actually is...

The router works fine with my wifes laptop, she never has any probs, also work with my iphone OK,

Its a BT Voyager 2110 by the way, had it for a couple of years, always works ok with other pcs, it just this new lappy that it seems to have a problem with,

Also signal strength isnt the problem as its in the same room,

    So any ideas chaps ???

Sounds daft but im guessing you have installed the drivers for the modem, also make sure ay firewalls etc are permitted to let you view certain sites as when i had my desktop i had a similar issue and i found out it was my firewall ( on vista ), ill have another think and let you know if i can think of anything else

    Cheers Dave

and yes, tried turning off windows firewall, and the firewall / anti virus ( its got Norton installed by the way )

    also to add to this,,,,

when i took this laptop to my res, it connected to their wifi without any hassles..
