I found this useful. I think we may have it laminated and stuck to the inside lid of our CDJ's!

In the past the E-8303 is just a simple read error which normally points at the source rather than disc-insert / read sensor or optical pickup. Go through the process of taking off the front panels, giving the units a good clean, update the firmware to the latest version, and then run the error checker program on these new tracks that you've burnt to CD.

I have also heard stories of this error message popping up on copies that have included the album artwork within the same folder. Never encountered it myself.

Failing all that, you may want to look at the way you are burning your CD's!

...sorry, I've jumped the gun a little with that reply. Skimmed your message, didn't see that you'd written you have no issues with the copied CD in another player.

Sounds like it just needs a clean, then. Maybe look at picking up some IPA swabs from RS or Farnell and check the laser / optical pickup assembly.

Before all of this, I would check to ensure the new CDJ's were shipped with the latest version of firmware, v2.10. A guide is here.

If you still encounter playback issues, you could use cotton wall buds / balls instead with IPA or a HFE solvent.

This is a pic of the offending part. I don't think you are at that stage of replacing it, just yet!

    Optical Pickup
    http://www.soundandvisionav.co.uk/pr...Pick-up--.html

Opening the unit is straightforward stuff, 6 screws on the base and 1 on near the phono outs on the rear. The design and modular assembly makes it fairly easy to get in, clean up and / or swap bits out if necessary.

If you are struggling to identify what part, then perhaps see if you can get it shipped elsewhere to have it serviced. Alas, if even after a thorough clean you still have issues, then the pickup may need to be realigned or the laser / SS circuitry have developed a fault. I'd certainly be on at your man from eBay about this...

I'll happily quote you a price to have them serviced.

    Good luck!
