    Forget the DDS standalone unit

Get the DDS-80 with the HDD and CD drawer....

I've used a d2 for over two and a half years and an iDJ2 (which is the same hardware as the DDS80 but with a built-in mixer) for about a year. Neither has missed a beat. The iDJ2/DDS80 is preferable due to the improved screen resolution (more detail on screen) and faster processor but the d2 is my trusty workhorse that's used for the majority of gigs.

I suggested the DDS80 over the DDS as the DDS80 can be bought new cheaper than the DDS alone.

Vectis, would be better to buy the standalone and then a separate mixer then?

    Depends.

If it was my main rig, I'd go with separates. Then you can swap/change components in future.

For backup, combined is good from a size perspective.

I considered the HDMIX but settled on the iDJ2 because I dislike the "decks above the mixer" layout of the HDMIX. And because I already have a bunch of USB disks so had no need for internal.

If you do play CD's, also bear in mind that any of the Numark gear will mount a USB CD drive and play regular audio CDs as well as ISO format (ie standard) disks full of mp3 files, so again no need for a built-in drive for occasional use.

I use the d2 for the majority of gigs. It's in a cantilever mixer case with a Numark CM200USB mixer, a Behringer EQ and a bunch of other bits & pieces such as a radio mic receiver, karaoke mic mixer, UHF transmitter etc.

The iDJ2 gets used for the "Dinky Disco" package where space is a premium, and for kids gigs where I don't need all the bells & whistles.

Charlie, I have this rig on sale:
Numark DDS80, essentially NEW, I've had a play with it, but it's never been out of the house
Numark CM200 mixer , used but in excellent condition with a new cross fader fitted.
Quality Flightcase, used, but in excellent condition, fitted out with ventilation grills and XLR outputs so you don't struggle connecting up, and an external USB female socket for the keyboard (or additional usb input)
Price £625 ovno, you are welcome to come round and have a play on it.
