Thread: Laptop on amp - any technical issues?

    i've used my laptop on top of my amp, and didnt do either any harm, though it did get a little warm at one point when i started playing on some F1 game! *

    *a) the party was dead
    b) i had my 2 other DJs with me!!!
    c) i'm the boss!!

    I don't think there is anything in an amp that would damage a hard drive. I'm sure I will be corrected if this is not the case.

    Shouldn't be a problem, most amps these days are designed for racks, so push air out the back - not the top

    So are there any components in an amp that would affect the hard drive in a PC that I don't know about?

    I regularly use laptops on top of both single amplifiers and amp racks, doesn't cause any problems at all.

    the coils in the amp by their very nature produce slight eletromagnetic forces, not enough to harm a disk (normally shielded anyway)

    Just keep and hard disk away from you speakers (even when packing away)
