One of our DJs has a 'day' job in a post production company and started out as a runner.
I'll just warn you: expect some L-O-N-G nights and unpredictable shift patterns!
Cheers Angie It's more the camera work & editing I'm interested in, rather than the actual post production - which means even later nights

Thanks, Daz. I spoke to Dad about it the other day actually, I'm sure we can get something sorted over the summer!

Most camera men, once they have filmed the job (eg a BBC documentary), they tend to do the editing at home, or in their office, or wherever, then submit the final project to the client.
Is this the way you'd ideally like to operate?
Max,
The organisations I'm going to work with all edit in house, apart from Rushes who are purely post production (colour correction, special FX etc) using DaVinci. Freelance camera men, and employees of these organisations are completely different ball games, both of which I'm taking an angle on.
Having already produced a promo video for PMT (www.pmtonline.co.uk) (which was shown at the NAMM show in USA.) and iForce (www.iforcegroup.com) (used to show the business's progression to Sainsbury's & Boots) I have had really positive feedback & "recommendations" from both parties. I've also had my video CV reviewed by MD of Channel 5 - so all of these contacts and the advice given by people in the media industry seem to have been enough to grab the atttention of the businesses I'm going to work with throughout the summer.
I've got some other projects in the pipeline for this year, including a memorial video for around rememberance day for Help for Hereos (will post more, once confirmed). I've got some music video shoots coming up including an appearance from the dance group "Diversity" too.
I think you'll find that actually, the freelance cameramen only actually "film" the footage, and it is then "captured" in house, for editing. It is then either submitted to an outside post production house, or done in-house.
Can't wait to see how it all goes!
