I am not a shy person but I used to get bulied at my school and that knocked my confidence quite a bit and it is still not as strong as it can be.

The only time I get shy and my confidence drops is when I have to speak on the microphone at a gig because my voice sounds so rubbish on the microphone and I feel that people will take the mick out of it.

Not everyone likes the sound of their own voice on a microphone.

My advice would be go to out with a more experienced DJ on the weekends you are not working and gain experience. That's all I ever did and I still do it now.

I am confident using microphones, as I have done before (for many reasons) at various things, but I usually find that I have regretted speaking after I have spoken.

The things you have to remember are:

- The Crowd don't know you (usually)
- The Crowd could be quite old anyway

I have heard your voice before, and it doesn't sound that bad. An improvement that you could make (if any), would be to put a bit more enthusiasm into it whilst speaking.

There are DJs out there (like everyone) with strong acents, also, they probably get more remarks made about them.
