Shouldn't really post a none 'selling' post in here, but here goes...

Are you going be running a second laptop for this, Charlie? Just wondered - cause I think it would be a wise idea.

    Charlie

Do yourself a favour and settle on the software before shelling out for the hardware.

AFAIK all of the main packages are free to download and you just pay for the dongle.

I've been through quite a few and settled on Daslight as being the one for me.

    Agreed 100%.

I tried FreeStyler, MyDMX, Daslight & ShowXpress before finally settling on ShowXpress. Mainly because it's just like Daslight, but I've found the hardware to be cheaper.

    I'm very confused.

So I can get the software free? And buy the hardware? Where from?

I fancy a Mac Ollie - you can pick one up on eBay for £450/500.

All software is free. The 'dongles' can be bought from HTFR, DJ Kit, PhaseOne, Terralec & DJGear.

Not sure how great an ebay mac would be? That's very cheap for a good one?

My first ever Mac was from eBay. Cost me £950. Mind that was for a Macbook Pro. My sister got her Macbook from there too for £500 and its had no problems at all! Its now coming up for 2 years old.

Obviously it's used...do you not recommend a used lappy?

Always fancied one. Just so bloomin' expensive.

Do I have to buy "daslight" hardware then? Is it complicated? Is there a basic software for blondes? Like...blackout - all on - all blue - all red - strobe etc.
