    Default Awful band, Awful sound

Ive been away this weekend and seen 2 live bands in the entertainment bar
the band on the friday night were awful.

Anyone heard of a band called The Quantum Project? big sound system lots of bass... no hardly any top/mid drowned out completely by the bass.

the singer wasnt up to much either. I was curious to know what pa they were using and i found it was Turbosound TLH and TSW and it sounded horrible.

probably the way it was setup im guessing.

Another band this evening called Egomania. definetely better than the quantum project id say on that night and sounded better them running through 4x srm450s 2x mackie srs1500 subs.

Anyone worked alongside any of these.

Sounds more like a Jeff Wood disco than a band!

You mean THL (Highlight boxes). Not in the same league as Floodlight/Flashlight, but very nice all the same.

You guess correct. A bad technician/engineer can make a good system sound awful.

A good technician/engineer can make a mediocre system sound half reasonable.

Just got in from a double 40th playing alongside a local band.
Their PA was 2x Mackie 1530's with SM58's & A&H mixer and sounded awesome.
Despite it only being their 3rd gig as a band, they all have experience from former bands, I would happily recommend them.

I worked last night with The Fabulous Boogie Band, absolutely top-notch entertainment, and sounded good as well, can't tell you what the PA was, not really bothered by kit and badges.

Covering, West Midlands, Cotswolds, South & Mid Wales. Have van, will travel!
