I'll reserve judgment 'till I use one I think.

I reckon it will be seriously flawed, new products from non-established companies tend to be that way

I just read this in the DJ SHow North booklet...
GCI Technologies is the umbrella for Gemini, IKey and Cortex.
So it looks like it's part of the Gemini group according to this bumf I'm reading.

...Now that would make sense

Well, hopefully they have employed all of their most experienced engineers on the project, as it could really be something if done right
-
It appears they're doing things right. They've been holding out on distribution till thorough beta tests have been done by mobile dj's out in the field.....as a consumer It's reassuring. Hopefully the product wont dissapoint
-
Depends of the DJs they chose to beta test it though, doesn't it?

More info from CGI Tecnologies
60 days after the HDC1000 will come the HDC3000 and 60 days later will come the HDC5000 (large platter scratcher that looks like Pioneer CDJ1000).

I just like the idea that this could be the first development in a long time for sound equipment in the DJ/ Musical Entertainment market that specifically is designed to ONLY play music and appears to have a realistic search facility.
In my opinion the last product launched of that kind was the Mini Disc which I immediately bought--must be 10 years ago?
PCs and Laptops can play music but are not designed specifically for that function.
I agree with Badger--im sure the other players in the market will follow--
The only crunch points as usual are reliability and simplicity.
