Default What do clients google for ??

When clients find you by googling (or any other search engine) what do they normally type in to find you ??

I would have imagined it would be 'venue/town DJ/Disco' (ie beamish disco). However closer monitoring has brought some interesting results which I hope to use for SEO.

Just trying to gain ideas for now.

I'm surprised at the number of people that find my website by searching under my actual name or variations of it, such as Rob James, Rob James DJ, Rob James Disco & Rob James Entertainment.

However, in terms of generic searches, the top three phrases used to find my website are mobile disco Surrey, mobile discos in Surrey and Surrey mobile disco.

    Hope this helps.

Typing mobile disco Gateshead places me top of the google maps. However I have to admit this has done jack for me enquiry or booking wise.

Majority of my enquiries still come in via Yell.com

Hopefully my new website might put that right

    Default Keywords

I have just looked at my Google Analytics report for the last 2 years.
Besides all the usual variations (i.e business name or town dj etc) here are some interesting ones from the top 500. I have listed the search position to help you gauge their relevance.

    5. Top 100 Wedding Songs
    16. Wedding Entertainment Edinburgh
    43. Top 100 Disco Songs
    54. DJ licence
    70. Wedding Disco
    71. Wedding Music Edinburgh
    94. Produb licence
    106. Monthly cd's for dj's
    179. Compere Presenter

A lot of the search results included a specific wedding venue name. Other popular keywords included Wedding Singer, Ceilidh Band and Wedding Band - but they are quite unique to me.

The word "best" appears in a lot of searches.

    All the best

I only have basic (read free) web analytics only shows last 25 visitors at a time unless i cut+paste into xls database BUT of these the search terms used for search engine referrals (only Google and Bing in the last 25 visits) are:

    phat aahs
    hompage wedding singer
aahs wedding (from the USA, bizarrely)
    wales mobile disco
    wedding singer website.

Other hits are link/referrals from other sites/directories, links from web-based email message (googlemail, hotmail) or direct access by typing whole address.

Anecdotally, I do find a fair number of search engine referrals are variations on my business name .....which is nice. Almost as many hits as from people from Dakisdakistan looking for pictures of disco lights. ;-/

For SEO pov my top (recent?) Keywords

    367 disco
    282 floor
    198 phat
    166 aahs
    141 wedding
    113 singer
    98 wales
    59 south
    54 phataahs
    42 nadj
    33 wwwphataahscom
    33 paul
    31 mobile
    30 logo - wthf?!?!?
    30 karaoke
    29 lights
    26 jon
    26 singer

    Hope this helps.

BTW The words "most handsome singer-DJ" appear in a lot of my searches.

(OK, ok.....so I lied about the last bit.)
