Default Martin Mac 250 needed some TLC!!

    Hi all

I have just went to view a pair of Mac 250s which I’m interested in buying however one of the fixtures won’t come out of its reset position into home. The pan doesn’t know the max limit when to stop and makes a non stop clicking noise.
The Seller told me that the fixture needs a new switch for the pan if that’s correct. I have been quoted a price of £50 to replace it.
I was just wondering if that sounds like the problem??
Could this be the piece I need??

How much would it cost to service the pair of Mac250s??
Both Macs had a serivce last year.
The mac250s have come from a nightclub, I'm not quite sure how old they are possibly less than 10 years.
The working mac 250 is in great working order, all colours and gobos in great condition.
Both need new lamps thats all up to now, need to test the other mac once the pan switch is fixed.
So hopefully the 2nd mac is in great codition and all I will need to buy are two MSD 250 lamps.

    cheers dave

The age of the fixtures isn't particularly relevant, it's the hours of use that you should be interested in. This can be displayed within the INFO submenu.

The advantage of buying ex-install is that fixtures have not been knocked about on the road (unlike hire kit) hence should be in better cosmetic condition. However a fixture may have thousands of hours and be almost clapped out, despite "looking" immaculate. The advantage of buying ex-hire is you are likely to get fixtures with less hours and a flightcase thrown in with each pair.

Sorry, my LX knowledge is very basic... I'm a noise boy, not a lampie
Try the LX board on the Blueroom forum, I'm sure you'll get a quick answer there.

Martin Macs are very specialist lights, you will find that once you start serviceing them your engineer will find faults if they are the age you stated.
Re your fault it should show a code on the screen which if you do a bit of research will tell you what the fault it sounds like it could be a pan and tilt problem.
You probably are aware on ebay theres a guy who does a lot of parts for martin kit based in Bristol of the top of my head, hes very good for parts and knowledge.
Just as an examplle i bought two martin mini macs 1 working 1 faulty simular fault to yours they cost £600 to rectify, service plus labour plus parts, you will need to be careful or they could be a dear purchase.
    Hope this helps.
