Interesting - I have a Vestax VCI and the mic is awful (bad latency) requiring a separate mixer for the mic before the amp.
    Bought this for such purposes:

this however might work and would fit in my flight case out the way?

Could i basically run two jacks out of the VCI & one mic (i only need vol conrtol) through that and in to my active system? how much worse is the powered maplin one as that would save hastle of plugging it in. a usb one would suffice however.

Second one's a non starter, cos your vestax will be line out, not mic.( As far as I can tell ) I haven't got a perfect suggestion, but I'd look at some sort of rackmount mixer. Denon X050 or that sort of style. The one you've linked to would work, but obviously the physical shape is a problem. I found a shedload of 1U rackmount types which would serve your purpose, but all at £150 to £200 plus. Sorry.

Sold one of them today to funky mook. Brilliant call though this has done me totally good for a year or two.

I am not using a rack now so bought this bargain which will suffice for now:

Depends on how often it's used, and what you need.
That's exactly what I use for Karaoke mics, it runs up to 4 individual mics from one channel and it allows individual volume control of each microphone

Couple of tips if you get one

    1) Use microphones that have a switch, that way when you have less than 4 singers you can simply turn off unused mics without having to turn down the volume on the mic mixer (because you'll probably forget to turn it up again when the mic is next in use)

    2) Put a small band of electrical tape (different colour) around each end of the cable, that way you can see at a glance which mics are in use and which channel they go into, then if you get a really powerful singer you know which channel to lower, or vice versa for a really quiet singer

    3) Always carry two spare batteries, with heavy usage in a single night I've been through two batteries.

Thanks for that. I will get one of these I think as it will come in handy for speeches.
