I know MDJF_Ian and and Solitaire Entertainments Ltd run agencies - perhaps they can help out as you're trying to set this up properly (as opposed to just "winging it"!)

I don't run an agency.

Sorry guys- to be honest, I don't actually understand the difference between supplying DJ's and being an agency.
Are the DJ's employed, or some other system in place to by-pass the agency rules?
I have a reason for asking this, as currently starting to take on the odd gig for another DJ where I have availability.
Thanks,
Jason

There's two ways - employment agency and employment business which I am.
It's a bit of a minefield and it might be worth your while spending a few hours reading up on it.

Thanks Darren,
this is only small scale, and I'm not interested in losing my own business and working for someone else.
Something else to read up on :-)
Cheers for the reply,
Jason

Having never done this before, I've looked into it... but I'm at the point where I need to write up a contract between me and the DJ I'm giving the work to.
I thought I would be completely honest and ask outright if anyone would be so nice as to allow me to see a contract they use when signing DJ's up please
While I've got an idea of what to include in the contract, it's just nice to see how others have worded things and to see if I have missed anything out in my sketch up.
Lots of thanks and hugs in advance !

You need to check the legal situation, there are several different scenarios
Multi op with or without equipment supplied and staff on or off paye
Passing on bookings using your Contract or their Contract
Proper Agency (my wife runs one)
When you know how you are going to work you then need to check Insurance arrangements carefully otherwise you could easily get wiped out
At that stage advice can be given.
Not at the moment.
Its too vague.
Signing up DJs what does that mean?
No I know what it means, but what is the deal?
If you have a Solicitor have a brief chat--
