    Hi guys,

    Here is my new website.

    www.horizon-events.co.uk

    Completly re-vamped.

    Thanks,

    Constructive criticism please.

And I can't afford to move off google sites at the moment, Maybe at the end of this year.

The pictures on the homepage are not aligned, they are all over the place.

"If you cannot find a picture of your event please contact us and we will endeavour to get back to you."

This makes it sound like you will get back to them on the never ever. I'd remove the part about "endeavour to get back to you"

    Services:

It looks like you've just stuck the availability checker in without any thought.

    Equipment Hire:

2 pictures not working. Different fonts used.

"Other equipment is also available through us on a re-hire basis"

    Like what?

    Gallery:

Pictures are all over the place again. Different fonts used again.

    Quote:

The form is too big for the window.

After going through the three pages it tells me to contact you for a price??? This is not an instant quoting system.

Make the form a tickbox enquiry form rather than a three/four page form and say that you'll contact them.

    Downloads:

Don't like this one bit. This information should be sent in a booking/confirmation pack. Nice to see you are still charging 2010 prices though.

Why would someone download your services list (and why are using the old style design?)

If you want a page like this then put documents like your PLI, PAT and PRODUB.

As you hire items out what are your terms and conditions? No deposit?

I would take it off and maybe set something else up on another site. Just looks like you're trying to be a jack of all trades and master of none.

You only charge £50.00 more for New Year's Eve than you do for your "larger" disco? Seems very cheap.

Also there are no time restrictions so can you confirm that you are happy to do a disco from 11:00am - 2:00am for just £300?

The you tube video is pretty poor, it shows the lights flashing. Show people dancing!

You really need to think about the presentation of your site before making it live.

I don't understand why you didn't use Alex for your hosting. It cost nothing to host your site with him.

Hi Tom - to be honest, apart from looking a bit different, it's pretty much the same content. Personally I'd like to see you concentrate on a much smaller range of services, birthday parties for instance, I'd have a concern about you doing a wedding going by your NYE set-up. As for the larger events you mention, I still think you are out of your depth with these outside of your school environment.
Start small - get some experience and build from there.

How many times have you asked for your website to be reviewed on this forum?

I don't think peoples opinions will change. To me it screams "free site" and isn't that pleasing to the eye.

Unless it's bringing you work in. Simply stick to a holding page with all your contact details and message saying "please forgive our appearance whilst we bring you a brand new site for 2011" and hire a professional to do your website (and your discos!!!) the last part was a joke BTW

He is doing it as I suggested dropping the pretence that they do this and do that...

    That hasn't happened though.

Tom, you aren't a ' small events production company' You don't even know how to set up a small disco with any degree of finish. Yet you still insist you are a production company.

    Stop the bull.

My patience is running very thin.

I'm sorry but on your gallery, you show some pretty decent kit under the 'concert' section. Now from the information that you give on your website, I would presume that you would be able to turn up at my local village hall and appropriatley plan, rig, control and strike all that equipment. Is this the case?

    OK - here's another idea.

Keep the Horizon Event site as it is as you obviously want to keep advertising the events, concerts, theatre and dry hire.

But do another website just for birthdays/proms/school discos/youth clubs etc. make it really colourful, vibrant and fun to appeal to a younger market.

Nothing wrong in having two sites for different markets. I have! One for a niche music events and one for the more mainstream events.

As I said before, I really believe the younger party scene (under 18's) is where your business is - I bet you'd be the only DJ in the area specialising in this sector who was actually the same age as your clients - that's a great USP if you market it right.

I'm pretty much out of ideas now (for what they're worth) so probably won't post again on this subject. Good luck Tom.

    A) 'Horizon Events' sounds like a production company. You're not. You're a small mobile disco starting out. I would have a complete name change to something that describes what you really are. 'Horizon Events' is deceiving.

    B) You may have changed the background but the content is either the same or very similar. It's incorrect and very misleading. This was a concern a lot of people have raised. You appear to have ignored them, again.

    C) It looks crisp, clean and fresh, which is nice.

    D) I would scrap the equipment hire page. The gear you own isn't suitable for large PA events. It's wasting peoples time and will do more trouble than good.

    E) What's your SEO like?

    F) I would focus on Children's/Teen parties. This is how I learnt a lot. I think it would be unfair for you to do a wedding, potentially ruining someone's big day.

I'm not being a bully or vindictive like some people on the forum are making out. I've talked to you a lot on FB answering your questions etc but you don't seem to listen or take any notice. (like me, which is cool )

I'm sure you will be fine in the long run but stop trying to be someone you're not. People will respect you a lot more if you can admit you're wrong and prove you're willing to learn & listen.

    Tom.
Please listen to the guys and gals on here , there are some very successful DJ`s on here , who will be only to pleased to help you out , if you listen !!.
Also there are some excellent web designers here , and I think that some offer web hosting as well.
If you cannot afford to have your site made by a professional ( and not everyone can) , then at least host it somewhere , not on googel
for a basic site , why not try http://www.wordpress.ogr or http://www.joomla.org/ , there are thousands of free templates to get you going.
1+ for funkymook idea about having more than one site , I am sure that anyone looking for a good school disco or 16/18 birthday will not want to see corporate events , stage shows etc. use the old acronym , KISS .
But , and I mean this , there are people on this site that will bend over backwards to help , and , if they see improvements , will continue to help , however if no heed is taken , you my find your self up a water way , with no means of propelling your self .
There are people on here who started with a darn sight worse gear than you have , however they have listened , and improved their whole outlook on this industry , I am one of those , with time , you could be too .
