    Default Facebook Page Names

    Hi guys,

For those of you who have a Facebook page but still don't have a vanity URL to it... then here is how to do it!

First off, visit your facebook page and look at the URL in the address bar.
If it reads something like www.facebook.com/pages/pagename/7456784454
Then you don't have a fancy url!!!

If you want people to be able to find you quickly, you want something like this:
    www.facebook.com/yourpagename

    ---------------

In Order to get this.... make sure you are logged into facebook... and visit http://www.facebook.com/username/

Next, if you have pages on facebook you'll see a drop down box where you can select the page you want to apply the new vainty url to.

Select the page... then type is a username for that page... for example with me... I wanted facebook.com/alexentertainment but it wasn't available so I put in AlexEntertainmentUK.

So now, clients can find me at facebook.com/alexentertainmentuk

PLEASE NOTE: Apparently you need a certain amount of "fans" and "likes" of your page before you can request a vanity URL... so make sure you get your friends, customers and family to like your page if you don't have enough yet

    ---------------

Hope this helps out some people... no doubt there will be posters who say "But whats the point??" The point being, you can have a short domain which can be used easily on advertising, it's quick to remember for clients and just looks good

    Enjoy

Unfortunately, Facebook do not support vanity URL's for groups I'm afraid.
You can only use this on pages!

Facebook recommend using a page for business advertising rather than a group... as pages can have more " Add-on's " and can be easily intergrated into websites.

One of the best things about having a page is using HTML to create your own personalised page too!

You can add video, images, coding... everything!
I'm looking into DJEP integration at the moment, but running into problems - I'll keep you posted!!

An example of what type of page you can create:
    http://www.facebook.com/AlexEntertai...app_4949752878

(Yes I know... it's my own page... but it gives you an idea!!)
I managed to create that in about 30 minutes last night. In all fairness, most of it is just pictures... but you get the idea!!

Just a little something that I thought would fit in well with this subject:

Facebook are changing both the layout and the functions available for 'Pages'. One of the best (IMO) amendments will be that you will be able to interact as your 'page' (as opposed to now where you can only post as yourself).

You can opt to change over to the new layout now, but all pages will automatically change over to the new layout etc on 10th March
