My usual help can't make it tomorrow night and it always slows me down somewhat.I'm just curious do you guys/girls do most of the gigs on your own or do you have somebody helping with the gear?

Sometimes my eldest daughter helps but very rarely. And she has the work ethic of a cauliflower.

I always used to set up a disco on my own.

Even when I used to do a disco, dance floor, starcloth, uplighting and Dj all day I used to do it on my own. Perhaps I am just tight though

I've picked up on a few things you've said, your outgoings must be minimal!!

I suppose it all depends on what type of gig and what you are doing

Ie: If its a full dancefloor, stacloths etc then yes get help lol

But if its a case of a general/normal setup (deckstand, cloth, few lights, speakers etc) then ill do it on my own unless the misses is with me (then again it will be alone again)

But useally the misses would help me carry the stuff and help with general passing lights and holding etc

Usually setup by myself for DJ bookings, unless I've paid someone to help with other jobs before and can get more out of them

However, if the job required a setup that would be physically impossible with one person, or would take longer than a hour then I'd get extra help and factor this into the price.

I should point out that most of my DJ work is Weddings, with setup in the room turnaround, so obviously things would be different if I had more time available.

Only twice had someone with me and he helped set up took photos during the gig and helped packed down.

Even then I didnt think it was worth the outgoings so like Ben I avoid this cost.
