That seems to be quite sensible. At least you won't find yourself doing another 'freebie' for them. Of course it could go up and them not pay you and you don't turn up, so loosing the money anway, but at least you won't have 'done' the gig...... if you see what I mean!

Horrible situation - I hate it when large companies do this to small, independent companies that may or may not be able to stand it. When will they realise that there is a huge difference between owing a large, national company a few grand for 90 days, and owing the local window cleaner for 90 days??

In your position, Alex, I'd be inclined to accept the bookings, but make it clear that if your outstanding account isn't settled by xx/xx/xx, then you'll cancel any existing bookings with the company. How much lead time is there on the new bookings?

I think you made the correct reply mate to be honest - I would certainly have re-iterated that payment for the outstanding gig should have been before the event as per the full terms and conditions.

And should you agree to DJ at future events stress that the booking t&Cs must be met regarding payment otherwise they ain't got a DJ.

but probably a little more succinct than I've just put it!

Agree that I'd have taken on the booking but with Neil on this one in that it the full account would have to be settled 14 days prior.

Then again, are the individual departments responsible for the bills or the company as a whole? If it's individual departments then I'd treat the new booking as a new client and they'd get the same terms as everyone else.

Well it appears my refusal worked and word got round!!

Had a phone call this morning from the Big Manager who has profusely apologised... and has organised the payment himself!
And after checking my bank account... they've paid! In Full!

So I've contacted the other department manager and taken the bookings
on the proviso that payment is BEFORE the gig.

    Whoooopppp Whooooop
