Sending Video Signal 20m+???
Hi Guys,
Done a site visit to a local bar where I'll be providing karaoke in three weeks time and have an issue getting a feed into the venues tvs.
Where I am wanting to set up means at least a 20m cable needs to come out of the laptop into one of these http://www.keene.co.uk/electronics/m...p?mycode=VS88V
Now I'm wanting to know before I go buying anything is the following.
1. Is the signal going to be strong enough over 20m to display this on at least 6 large screens.
2. Is there an proven and fairly cheap way of sending this wireless.
3. Is there a better way.

Likes a bit of moleing
Hi mate. You should be able to send upto approx 80 - 100m of BNC (composite) or RCA cable. I would always recommend in having a booster at the other end. Cat 5 is another good way as you can run this for miles the send and receive cat 5 - video aren't cheap though!

20m should be fine, I believe that Kramer matrix will amplify each output anyway and I bet they'll be longer runs than 20m to each display screen.
I have Cat5 kits for VGA signals that you could have borrowed to try out, but not for video I'm afraid.

As my laptop doesnt have a straight video out connector only a SVGA I think it is (15 female pin)
Is this what I need? http://www.cheap-shoping.com/c49/p437/ with a 20m video cable to run to the input behind the bar?

Hello
Nope tha won't do it, however this will and is what i use in my setup ( I have two of them)...
VGA to RCA(BNC)/S-Video/VGA through >> Click Here
I hope that helps and running 20m of high quality 75ohm coaxial BNC cable will be fine >> BNC Video lead Click Here
Thank you

Also note that you will need a spare USB output from your laptop/pc to power the small unit !!

I could be wrong but make sure you also have a BNC to RCA connector to connect to the kramer

I will 2nd that , I have two as well.
If you don't have a spare USB socket on your laptop you could always use one of those mains psu's / wall wart / whatever you want to call it that has a USB socket on , the sort of thing that folks use to charge their ipods etc.

The Kramer will have BNC pots on the unit so one end of the cable will fit nicely, but the other end will probably need one of these to connect to the VGA to RCA (BNC), S-Video converter.
