How can you not know what sort of function you are working at?

Quite easily mate, believe me. The first one I did, I was unaware of the subtle nuances. Probably since the venue had told me "It's a wedding".
Excalibur. Older than the average DJ.

I have been known to double check on the night the name(s) of the person(s) who the party is for, but I generally know why I am there
I do quite a few parties in the local WMC and get booked in by the Steward on behalf of, so worth double checking my own notes.

I know a lot of people round here, so generally I don't speak to them once they have booked, but encourage them to get in touch if they need anything specific music / arrangement wise. For functions outside the locale, I double check arrangements one week before.

Banners are always a good clue to how old they are ... not that I really every announce any age over 18 or 21 anyhow as some people are a bit sensitive.

    Any views on this?

I have only had 2 civil partnership gigs. I think the novelty has worn out a bit now though.

I have a couple of gay friends who did say that normally people having a civil ceremony will tend to book a gay dj. (and photographer etc).
