That is the software i recommend and also use and it works fine with most modern DVD/RW writers after playing around with various settings

I use the following: LG HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22LS30 Sata writer .... which are dirt cheap

    Thank you

No bother. It will help you to find out if its worth pursuing the option of burning your own discs. If it comes up as a no-no then it'll save you wasting time on downloading/buying the software.

That page has been on Tricerasoft's site for a number of years and may well be out of date. It refers to:

USB2 - Good potential. This is a new standard to compete with Firewire. It is much faster than USB but is very new. USB2 compatible equipment and interfaces are just now becoming available.

Firewire - Very New/Fast. This could be the one to get in the future.
Both USB2 and Firewire have been around for a number of years now but both are currently being superseeded by USB3 and Intel's LightPeak/Thunderbolt so those comments show how old the information is. Still, it's a useful starting point and two of my previous drives are on the list (unfortunately, those models, as far as I remember, have been discontiued).
