I'm sure most of us are using Linux based Apache hosting probably with PHP/mySQL etc... (all free)

Other points are very valid thou - a newly registered domain, and no telephone number on the website.
Its a part-time business, probably drop-shipping. Returns could be a nightmare.

I'd prefer to buy from an established retailer with some technical back-up.

Dont always believe what you read. It may not be a genuiene Shure. There are some going around with Shures badge on and they look like 58's but they dont contain Shures high quality parts. I sold a genuiene one to Spirits High not so long ago for a good price so you can get good details on the real thing. It just doesnt look the case on the one you listed.

As I've said before (for example here and here) there's absolutely nothing wrong with using open source software.

On it's own using open source software is no indication at all. But that together with the other 3 factors I listed would set my personal alarm bells ringing, that's all.

Loads on there are copies, not originals.

eBay even warned specifically about them.

What is a 58 like? I have always gone for the Shure Beta 58a. Just bought another this week for £145.

Actually - ignore this.... just found the answer http://www.shure.co.uk/support_downl...comparison-58s
