The dip switches are to allow the lights to function using the DMX512 protocol (i.e controlling them with a DMX controller)

In the master/slave mode, they make no difference.
If/when you get a DMX controller, they will set the base DMX address of the fixture.
They form a binary pattern that is the address;

Its a bit of a bigger subject, but you could give each Dynamo a different address, and use a controller to sequence them separately.
