Marketing ability. There are many very good DJs who have little or no knowledge of marketing and don't know where or how to start. This doesn't make them a bad DJ but does hamper their ability to perhaps gain the right kind of work.

Trying to run before you can walk! Expecting everything to fall into your lap when it isn't as easy as that.
Also, worrying about what everyone else is doing when you should concentrate on what YOU are doing.

The self proclamation as "uk's Premier DJ & Disco", and the self applied "specialist" tag as soon as they've done two Weddings, or barmitzvahs or whatever.

Well to go into this fully would take me a few thousand characters but the short story is making your brand appeal to your client. Sell them an product/service that they can picture themselves using.
